It was early , either January or February, I had just turned 21 and moved back to Sacramento California from Milwaukee. Each one cent would equal a dollar the drawer is over, and when the drawer would be full I would pretend I was dropping money into the safe and just pocket what was over. When I started at the store, there was apparently a witch hunt going on to attempt to figure out who was stealing so much form the gas station. I was hired right there on the spot; I think this happened mostly because I was white and looked like I could be trusted. I would buy tons of drugs and then gather up the troops and head out to our favorite bar, The Mushroom Lounge. I would also take merchandise like cigarettes, beer, and anything and everything else. His eyes would get wide with excitement as if he was there all over again reliving that moment in time. I would sneak them out the back by the big dumpsters and then pick them up on my way home. The open register was just a portion of what I had taken from the store. The way I did this was so clever that I would do it in front of the manager and he had no idea. Needless to say, the store was pretty much in chaos, but all should be ok since they put me on the case. In most cases, they always teamed me up with a tweaker to work with each night. I would let them do all the cleaning stuff we were supposed to do while I would run the cash register. I Prefer my Golden eggs served sunny side up Throughout our lives we all have moments that can only be described as epic. Each one cent would equal a dollar the drawer is over, and when the drawer would be full I would pretend I was dropping money into the safe and just pocket what was over. It was early , either January or February, I had just turned 21 and moved back to Sacramento California from Milwaukee. By the end of my first week or two, I was stealing full cases of beer. I would keep track of how much over my drawer was by keeping change in the extra slot. My local options were pretty much limited to a few local businesses. I would just shut off the camera, have one of my friends drive up to the store during my shift, and we would fill his or her car as much as it could hold. It started with the loose beers the day I filled out the application and increased the more comfortable I was and the more I learned of how the store worked. I would let them do all the cleaning stuff we were supposed to do while I would run the cash register. I turned in the application and he asked when I could come in for training. When friends would want free stuff I would just turn off the cameras and hand them bags and tell them take whatever they want. I would sneak them out the back by the big dumpsters and then pick them up on my way home. In the moment of her high as a kite she then explained in depth to me how she turns the cameras on and off as she needs and that she had been doing it for over a year now. After I finished filling out the application, I stuffed my pockets full of as much beer as I could without getting noticed. His eyes would get wide with excitement as if he was there all over again reliving that moment in time. I decided not to go and just hang out and see what happens. I choose the latter option and starting running what is called an open register. Not only were there others already heavily stealing from the store but there were people messing with the cameras too. Now most of you are probably wondering how it all ended. So after a little asking around, I was pretty sure that meant I was in the clear and I was. When I started at the store, there was apparently a witch hunt going on to attempt to figure out who was stealing so much form the gas station.
